Below are the Central Hinds Academy COVID-19 policies and protocols that are in place for the 2021-2022 school year and are effective immediately. As circumstances change with the pandemic, these policies and procedures may change. CHA will fully cooperate with any mandated orders as it pertains to COVID protocols in schools in our nation, state, and community.
Masks for students, faculty, and visitors to campus are optional. However, please make a wise decision based on your vaccination status, your current health status, and your knowledge of potential exposure to others who have not been feeling well.
Student, Faculty, Staff, and Campus Visitor Responsibilities
Although CHA will not require routine screening of asymptomatic, unvaccinated students, faculty, staff, and visitors; we continue to ask that students, faculty, staff, and visitors not come to school when they exhibit signs of any infectious illness.
Please do not put our community, our activities, and our school year at risk if you have any signs of sickness. Please stay home!
CHA students, faculty, and staff who test positive are required to notify the school office. Those persons with a positive COVID test will be required to isolate for 10 days from the onset of symptoms or the date of the positive test as well as being fever free for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school. A negative test will not required for return to school.
If you believe that you have been in close contact with a COVID positive person in an indoor setting without wearing a mask for 15 minutes, CHA will require a quarantine. In order to return to school, the individual must quarantine for 10 days after the close contact OR provide a negative test at least 5 days after the close contact.
If the individual has been fully vaccinated and is symptom-free, we will not require the quarantine described above (proof of vaccination must be shown to the office).
If the individual has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 6 months and is symptom-free, we will not require the quarantine (proof of positive test within 6 months must be shown to the office).
If the individual can provide a current COVID-19 antibody test confirming that he/she has antibodies and the individual is symptom-free, we will not require the quarantine (proof of positive test within 6 months must be shown to the office).
